Our philosophy is to provide you with a beautiful and inviting space and then let you complete it with the details of your choosing.

We believe you should decide how you want to decorate, what you want to eat, who you want to order from and how to run the event bar. We welcome you to bring in any caterer of your choice, run your bar to your liking, and include any other staff or organizations you see fit.  And, like any good backyard, we don't shut down until the party is truly over. With bookings until 3:00 AM, we encourage you and your guests to make the most of this unforgettable day AND night!

Wedding Celebration

What's Included:

Indoor Space

Our 9,600 square foot venue is thoughtfully designed with 30 foot ceilings, beautiful cedar accents and numerous large windows that fill the space with natural light.


The Backyard can accommodate up to 300 guests but can also be adjusted to provide an intimate space for gatherings of smaller sizes. The main floor includes separate space for the bar and the caterers. 

Upstairs has private get-ready rooms for your wedding party that are equipped with their own washrooms.  Next to the wedding party quarters, there is a spacious loft that overlooks the entire main floor, a perfect vantage point to take in all the festivities on your special day.

Outdoor Space

At nearly half an acre, our outdoor grounds are an expansive private park, fully fenced in to provide privacy and a feeling of intimacy not commonly found within the city.

Currently under construction and scheduled to be completed for the 2021 season, the outdoor space will include a patio with custom pergola and classic backyard fire for guests to gather around.  Beautiful greenery, flowers, vines and lush lawn are a bit of what you can expect in The Backyard's backyard.

The Backyard is spacious enough to give you the flexibility to host both the ceremony and the reception either inside or outside, depending on what your heart desires and how the weather cooperates.


The Backyard comes equipped with:

  • Banquet tables and chairs for up to 300 people, set-up and take down included.

  • Extra tables for cocktails, DJ, welcome table, and caterer/buffet use are available.

  • Built-in audio visual equipment including speakers for the ceremony & dinner, wireless microphone and an 15 foot HD laser projector and screen.

  • Available decorations include a podium, archway and Edison-style string lights.

  • You can count on perfect weather inside The Backyard thanks to state of the art heating and cooling systems.

  • Built-in bar includes customizable LED screens to display your menu or advertise your signature drink, and upright fridge and freezer

Booking Details

Venue rental includes access to The Backyard from 8:00 AM the morning of the rental until 3:00 the following day.

Early access for set-up and additional time on the day of the event may be available subject to availability.

We provide optional layout templates for space configuration and will always have staff onsite to assist with any facility questions or issues.

Pipe and drape rentals are available for an additional charge.

There is ample onsite parking and an overhead door to easily transport materials in and out of the venue.

Frequently Asked Questions

What could couples use pipe and drape rentals for?

The Backyard has pipe and drape available for rent. Couples may opt tp use pipe and drape for: - A decorative backdrop for the head table - A photo booth backdrop - Creating a separate space - A dramatic entrance If you are planning a smaller wedding, you can curate the space to feel smaller by sectioning of the main floor area with the use of pipe and drape.

Are dogs allowed?

We love dogs, and they are welcome to attend for those who wish to celebrate alongside their canine companion. That said, for this experience we find it is best to leave the pups at home so you can be fully present. The decision is ultimately up to you!

Do you charge corkage or gratuities?

We do not. We only charge the venue rental fee.

What is the max capacity of the venue?

Our maximum capacity is 300 persons.

Can we choose our own caterer?

Yes! When you book a wedding at The Backyard, we provide the space and you control the rest. There is a private room on the main floor that includes a kitchenette and space for your caterer to set up, however there is not a full kitchen on site. Most caterers will prepare the meal at their facility and then transport the finished product for serving.

Can we bring in our own alcohol?

Yes! You are responsible for obtaining your own liquor permit and supplying your own alcohol. You will have the flexibility to run the event bar however you see fit: $5/drink? Toonie bar? Open bar or by donation? It's completely up to you.

Does The Backyard provide bartenders?

No we do not. You are welcome to hire a professional bartending service or recruit volunteers either from your friend group, a non-profit organization, or fundraiser who offer bartending services for a small fee and/or tips that go towards their initiative.

Do I get access to both the indoor and outdoor space with my rental?

Yes! The entire Backyard venue, including the indoor and outdoor space, are completely available to you during your booking.

Can we book extra time for decorating?

Yes! Regular bookings include day of access to the venue from 8:00am to 3:00am the next morning. Should you wish to secure the venue prior to 8:00am on the day of your wedding, we do offer early access from 12:00pm noon to 10:00pm the day before for an additional charge.

Do all decorations have to be taken down following the reception?

We will set up and take down the items provided by the venue (e.g.: chairs, tables, archway). Any additional items used to decorate with are the host’s responsibility to set-up that morning, and take down by 3:00am

Is there a set time that the reception has to end?

Although we wish the party never had to end, take down must be completed by 3:00 am.
